Quad Bikes + Public Bikes = Smilestimes

Sometimes you just know a good thing when you see one. Public Bikes is one of these just plain good things – great really – and Quad Bikes is excited to announce that we’ll now be carrying these expertly designed bikes at our shop.  In addition to being supremely practical for campus and city riding, Public bicycles are beautifully designed and easy to maintain.  You can watch some awesome videos on their youtube channel, check it out!  Here’s one about the general concept of Public:

It certainly doesn’t look like sunny California around here right now, but these bikes are equipped for all kind of weather.  Fully outfitted with fenders and a sturdy rack, you’ll be ready for anything.  Come by the shop and ride one today!

Welcome Back!

We hope you have enjoyed your short time away from us, weather it was lying on a beach, hiking, gathering valuable work skills at your Summer internship, or relaxing by the pool, we welcome you back.

As a reminder to those who are familiar with us and a primer for those of you who don’t we are open Tuesday thru Saturday from 1 to 6:30.  Please bring in your bike for that much needed service that you have been putting off.  Whether it be a flat tire, a rusty chain or if your bike is in need of a tune up, our expert staff will take care of it.  Most small repairs only require a day to turn around, some can even be done while you wait, our tune ups, at ONLY $36 (cheapest in Boston and Cambridge) require a little bit of lead time, however only take us a day to complete so you are not without your vehicle for too long.  All repair appointments can be made over the phone, 617-496-5955, or by e-mail, info@quadbikes.org, or in person at the shop.
What’s that you say, you don’t have a bike and you were thinking of buying one for the new semester.  We have just received a new shipment of bikes, helmets, lights, locks, fenders, racks and more.  We also have a growing selection of used/refurbished bikes for sale.  We invite you to come down for a test ride.

We pride ourselves on offering you honest, knowledgeable and affordable service.

Please come visit us soon.

Thank you,

Quad Bikes Staff

We’re Open! And we’ve got new bikes!

After a brief stint of appointment-only nonsense, the shop is open for normal hours again.  Plus there’s some sweet new stuff coming into the shop, including new bikes for sale from Origin8 and a series of Quad Bikes mechanics’ guides that will be available for sale or for free with a class.  There will be new class coming down the pipes, the next one being on Tuesday, Feb 15th.  What better gift for your loved one than three hours of wrenching!

 The Origin8 Cutler 7-speed

The Origin8 Cutler 7-speed

The Cutler

Origin8 is the house brand of one of our distributors and they’ve been putting out some great stuff these last few years, especially in the urban cycling vein.  We’re pretty psyched on their newest full bike, the Cutler, which we’re currently stocking here in the shop.  The Cutler is a true city rider’s whip: simple yet versatile.  This bike can easily take fenders, a rear rack for hauling books or groceries, and with 7 speeds it’s perfect for the Boston area.  Plus, the whole bike comes in at just $300!  Everything on the bike is also easily upgradeable, so you can spec it out however you like.  Heck, I might buy one of these bikes.  Come in for a test ride or call up for more info.

Of course we’ll be continuing our classes, and expanding to include more intermediate and wheel building sessions.  In addition, we’ve been working on a series of mini-manuals that student can take home with them.  These little guides will also be available for sale in the shop.  To sign up for a class, just shoot us an email or give the shop a ring during business hours.

Snow Day Jan. 18

Because the weather – and more importantly the roads – aren’t looking so great today, we’ll be closed for the afternoon.  If you need to get in touch, shoot us an email at info@quadbikes.org or leave a message with us at 617-496-5955.

Stay toasty out there!

David

The Last of the BUB-o-saurus

Last year, we got a few of the all-new Batavus BUBs (Batavus Utility Bike), and the reaction has been great!  These three-speed wonders are perfect for the Cambridge area, equipped with fenders, tough tires, and an upright riding position (you also get sweet custom-colored accesories).  There are only two of these fine velocipedes remaining and we need to clear them out, so from now until March 1st these BUBs are 20% off!  Brave the snow and come take on for a test drive (we’ve got a long hallway so you can test ride them inside!).

We’re also no open for regular shop hours, so you can get the tons of salt and sand cleaned off your devoted bike. And what’s more, we’ve got plenty of classes coming up, check out the schedule to the left for more info.

cheers,

David

QB goes into hibernation…zzz…

Harvard’s winter recess is upon us, and when the mercury (and wintry mix) starts to fall we here at Quad Bikes will be crawling into our warm subterranean caves to hibernate until the new year.

Sleeping_BearWe will close after Saturday, Dec. 18th and re-open Tuesday, Jan. 11th.  There won’t be anyone in the shop during this period of time.  No quick flat fixes, no classes, no chain desalination – nada.

But don’t fear!  Come mid January, just when your winter ride needs some TLC the most, we’ll be back in action.  Plus we’ll be starting a new series of beginner and intermediate classes, so you can learn what it takes to keep your trusty steed running happily through these dark and dreary winter months.  Check the ‘classes’ page of the website for info on upcoming edu-tainment sessions.

Thanks to everyone for a great year, and Bon Hiver!
